This week’s storm pushed the official snowfall total for the Keweenaw Peninsula past 300 inches for this winter season.
The Keweenaw County Road Commission measured 16 inches of snow this week, which edged the seasonal total a half-inch past the 300-inch mark. Keweenaw County typically records around 270 inches of snow in a winter.
Brad Barnett at the Keweenaw Convention and Visitors Bureau says the total could still grow. Last year, Keweenaw County received 15 inches of snow in the final week of March, and the month of April.
While significant, the total will fall short of the all time record of 390 inches, set in the winter of 1978-79.
