The group opposing the placement of a series of wind power turbines in Adams Township has released a series of maps projecting the effect the windmills would have on the skyline.
Circle Power’s Scotia Wind Project would place a dozen 575-foot structures on Keweenaw Ridge, west of South Range and Painesdale.
Guardians of the Keweenaw Ridge maintains the towers and their nighttime warning lights would be visible from most of Stanton and Adams Townships, from far out into Lake Superior and Keweenaw Bay, and from land areas as distant as the M-28 corridor and the Huron Mountains.
Guardians Secretary James Mihelcic says the analysis confirms that the generators would “negatively impact local scenic vista views and other appealing attributes of the Keweenaw that diminish experiences of tourists and residents.”
