A Houghton County man is facing a felony charge after threatening a bar employee with a knife.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says a 70-year-old Kenton man went into Hoppy’s Bar in Kenton around 9:30am Monday morning.
Authorities say he brandished a knife, threatening an employee, who fought off the suspect with a broom and was able to escape.
The suspect was arrested a short time later and lodged in the Houghton County Jail on charges of felonious assault.
The suspect’s name was not released pending arraignment in 97th District Court.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Michigan State Police troopers from the Calumet Post and Wakefield Posts, along with deputies from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office.
