KBIC Votes on Council Members, Marquette Casino Expansion Tomorrow

The KBIC General Election will be held tomorrow. Polls will be open from 10:00 until 6:00. 

Voters in the L’Anse District will cast ballots at the Zeba Community Hall. Voters in the Baraga District will vote at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center.

In the L’Anse District, incumbents Edward Edwards and Gary Loonsfoot, Jr. face challenges from Austin Ayres and Joanne Clement. 

In the Baraga District, incumbents Rodney Loonsfoot and Don Messer, Jr. are running against Everett Ekhdahl, Jr. and former council president Warren “Chris” Swartz, Jr. 

Violet Friisvall Ayres is running unopposed to continue as Associate Judge of the Tribal Court.

Tribal members will also be asked to approve construction of a $25 million hotel and RV site next to the Ojibwa Casino in Harvey, and purchase of the NMU Golf Course adjacent to the casino for $1.5 million.
