KBIC Primary Elections Saturday

As the election season closes in on the final days, voters in the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will be the first to cast ballots at the polls.

The KBIC Primary Election is being held this Saturday.  Registered voters in the L’Anse District will vote at the Zeba Hall.  Registered voters in the Baraga District will vote at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center.

The candidates in the Baraga District are incumbents Susan LaFernier and Jennifer Misegan, with challengers Lyndon Ekdahl, Floyd Forcia, Jr., Dale Goodreau, David Haataja, Jean Jokinen, and Chris Voakes.

L’Anse District candidates include incumbent Warren “Chris” Swartz, Jr. going up against Elizabeth “Beth” Connor, Marty Curtis, Jr., James “JD” Denomie, Sue Ellen “Suzie” Elmblad, Gerald H. Friisvall, Kim Klopstein, Michael P. Lahti, Jerry Magnant “Mayo”, and Don Messer, Jr.

Candidates for Chief Judge include the incumbent Bradley T. Dakota with Bill Jondreau and Paul Smith challenging.

Polls will be open from 10am to 6pm.
