KBIC Approves Proposal To Purchase Medical Marijuana Business

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community has the go ahead from voters to purchase a medical marijuana grow and dispensary business.

The proposal was approved during a referendum election on Saturday by a vote of 217-155.

The $4 million needed to make the investment will come from the Elder’s Trust Fund.

The investment will cover the acquisition of real estate to be used for a dispensary and grow facility, retaining political and legal representation, licensing fees, and all other associated costs.

The KBIC will pay back the trust fund to make it solvent.
