Pre-1940 images of Hancock will be displayed and discussed at the Hancock School Public Library, part of a presentation by John Haeussler on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 7:00pm.
It is called Fire, Miners and Elephants: Hancock in Photos and Words, 1860-1940.
Contemporary accounts from newspapers and other publications pertaining to many of the photos will be read. Audience participation is encouraged and there will be time for questions, answers, and additional discussion following the presentation. Books will also be for sale, with all proceeds to benefit the Hancock School Public Library.
John Haeussler is the author of Hancock (Arcadia Publishing, 2014), released in Arcadia’s Images of America series. Previously he co-authored and co-edited Hancock’s sesquicentennial publication, Hidden Gems and Towering Tales: A Hancock, Michigan Anthology (City of Hancock, 2013). John, his wife Megan, and their children Maggie and Jack have resided in Hancock since 2007.
