HANCOCK, Mich. — An ensemble of musicians from Norway, Sweden and the United States have come together to showcase their talents to Upper Peninsula audiences, and Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center is one of the lucky sites.
On Saturday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m., the musicians of Beethoven and Banjos will take the stage at the Heritage Center to perform a variety of folk and Baroque music. There is no set ticket fee for the performance; attendees are simply asked to “come as you are, pay what you can.”
“The music was chosen and composed to be a direct celebration of the U.P.’s landscape, culture, and heritage,” said Beethoven and Banjos Artistic Director and U.P. native Evan Premo. “We’re excited to be welcoming Guro Kvifte Nesheim (Norway) and Anna Gustavsson (Sweden) for our fourth season.”
The Hancock concert is part of the Heritage Center’s Finnish American Folk School programming, as is the Beethoven and Banjos music workshop, slated for 2 p.m. on October 6 at the Center. The workshop is only $10 per person, and provides hands-on instruction from these world class musicians.
