Insurance Companies Waive Costs For Testing And Treatment Of The Coronavirus

Governor Whitmer has announced the Michigan Medicaid Program will waive copays and and cost sharing for Coronavirus testing and healthcare.

In addition to the Michigan Medicaid Program other insurance agencies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network of Michigan, Priority Health, CVS Health, McLaren and Meridian have also announced they will fully cover the costs for testing and treatment of the Coronavirus for members.

Governor Whitmer stated “So far we have no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Michigan, however we must take steps to ensure every Michigander has access to the care they need to combat the spread of the disease.”

Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Laboratories has announced an increase in testing supplies, allowing them to test up to 300 residents, which more than doubled their previous testing capacity.

While the risk of exposure to the virus remains low, it is recommended the public remains vigilant in taking steps such as frequent handwashing, covering your nose and mouth while sneezing, and avoiding people who are already sick.
