Incumbents Returned to KBIC Tribal Council

Both incumbents running for reelection to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Council retained their seats in Saturday’s general election.

Unofficial results from the Baraga District show Sue Ellen “Susie” Elmblad with 232 votes. Tony Loonsfoot collected 279 votes, and claimed the other available seat. Patrick Racette earned 118 votes, and Larry Denomie III 114.

In the L’Anse District, Elizabeth “Liz” Julio held her seat with 291 votes. Sam Loonsfoot received 253 votes, and Jeremy Hebert collected 226, and will fill the other two seats available. Jennifer Misegan trailed with 167 votes.

Violet Friisvall Ayres ran unopposed for the Chief Judge position, and collected 321 votes.

Results are not official until certified by the Tribal Council.
