Look for increased testing, in the battle against COVID-19 thanks to a collaboration between the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, Michigan’s State Emergency Operations Center and Michigan’s National Guard.
Long term care facilities such as the Lighthouse in Hubbell, Canal View in Hancock and the Gogebic County Medical Care Facility, have volunteered to be a part of the project.
Kate Beer, Health Officer for the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department said “The increased surveillance will inform our understanding of the status of the virus in our region.”
The SEOC has been transporting test kits, and the National Guard has been testing staff and residents, who have consented to be tested.
