Vaccines are considered to be among the most effective ways to prevent serious disease at any age.
However, growing misconceptions about immunizations have sparked a national debate about this aspect of public health.
“Millions of Lives Saved: The Incredible Impact of Immunizations,” the next in the Your Health Lecture Series, will be held at noon today in the Great Lakes Research Center, room 202.
The guest speaker is Dr. Keith English, chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Dr. English will present facts about vaccines and the importance of immunizations.
He gained national acclaim for leading the Memphis community response for the 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic while at the University of Tennessee Health Center.
The Your Health Lecture Series is a collaborative event sponsored by Michigan Technological University, UP Health System — Portage and the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
