The City of Houghton could become a regular stop for cruise ships, giving passengers a chance to enjoy the city during their brief stay.
City Manager Eric Waara said he will be traveling to Thunder Bay to talk with representatives from Victory Cruise Lines and other cruise companies about Houghton becoming a domestic stop.
Waara said discussions will center around schedules and itineraries while the passengers are in town.
He will bring information from the Keweenaw Convention and Visitors Bureau to show what they will be able to do in the area during their one-day visit.
Waara said the hope is they will get enough of a taste of what the area has to offer that they will want to come back.
