Houghton Student Nominated For Acceptance To Air Force Military Academy

A local student is being nominated for placement at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dante Cyrus of Houghton is one of three students from the Upper Peninsula to be nominated by Senator Debbie Stabenow for acceptance for admission by the academy to which they have applied.

Students seeking appointment to a service academy must first obtain the nomination of their U.S. Senator, their U.S. Representative, or the Vice President.

Students nominated by Senator Stabenow’s office went through a highly competitive application process that included interviews by veteran, military and community leaders.

Senator Stabenow nominated a total of 32 Michigan students to military academies.  The other two Upper Peninsula students to be nominated are Peter Nyfeler of Marquette (Air Force Academy) and Peyton Johnson of Iron Mountain (Naval Academy).
