Houghton Schools Pursue Safer Approach Routes

The Houghton-Portage Township School District is looking for ways to make it safer for students who walk and bike to school.

Officials are collaborating with the city of Houghton in a Safe Routes to School project. Richelle Winkler from the project team says there’s government cash available…

The project team wants input, so they’ll hold a public meeting tonight…

They’ll consider common solutions…

They’re also open to unique ideas. Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:00 at the Houghton High School/Middle School library
