Featuring the best the Upper Peninsula has to offer, the U.P. Summerfest is being held in Houghton starting today.
The event is taking place at Dee Stadium 5:00 to midnight tonight and 4:00 to midnight tomorrow.
This is actually a combination of two great events–with live music, beer and brats being featured on the main level–while upstairs, the Keweenaw Roadhouse BBQ, a special catered event that replaces the Seafoodfest Gala held in previous years.
Houghton Rotarian Eli Karttunen says the new location means the weather does not need to be a factor.
Construction on Lakeshore Drive is also not expected to keep people away.
Some parking will be available near the Dee and the city of Houghton will be running a shuttle around a loop through downtown so people can make it to the event.
