Residents from all over Houghton gathered at the City Center last evening to share their thoughts about the city’s master plan.
Members of the Planning Commission hosted their final open house to gather public input as they prepare to update the document.
Stations representing each section of the plan were set up for residents to visit, so they could discuss topics such as transportation, winter life, community facilities, sustainability, the M-26/Sharon Ave corridor, downtown, neighborhoods, recreation, economic development and zoning.
Consultant Pat Coleman from North of 45 will organize the community comments. Individual members of the planning commission will take responsibility for various sections of the plan, with subcommittees to assist in the revisions.
The master plan is updated every five years, and serves as the master guide for most major decisions made by the city.
