The city of Houghton is a beautiful place to live and that’s because the people who live here help to make it so.
The city’s Beautification Committee is giving residents an opportunity to join the effort to make the area visually appealing by allowing groups to adopt a garden.
The Beautification Committee has spent the last couple of years working with local volunteers to plant flowers and gardens throughout the city.
The Adopt-a-Garden program allows an individual or group to assume the responsibility of maintaining a garden located on public property.
The materials would be provided by the city.
A sign bearing the name of the adopting group or individual will be placed in the garden.
Applications can be obtained from the City Center.
