One national website says Houghton County residents are getting a high rate of return on their tax dollars, compared to the other counties in the state.
Houghton came in at number five in Michigan when factoring in the property tax rate versus the quality of the schools and the crime rate.
The study was done by the financial technology company SmartAssest for all counties across the United States.
As a whole, the Upper Peninsula fared quite well in the study with two other UP counties outperforming Houghton.
Ontonagon came in at number three and Dickinson County topped the list for giving residents the most bang for their tax buck.
