Houghton-Portage Township School District Holds Monthly Meeting

September 8th, that’s when the Houghton-Portage Township School District will start the 20-21 school year.

This from their monthly board meeting last night.

In terms of maintenance and cleaning, everything is ahead of schedule.

The shutdown has allowed maintenance and custodial staff to get extra stuff done.

In other news, the board approved Collette Patchin and Sarah Marcoppe to post public notices of meetings.

Marcoppe was also chosen to delegate election duties.

Memberships with the Michigan Association of School Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards along with their legal trust fund and the Copper Country Association of School Boards was also approved.

The Designation of Carriers to transport students was also approved, minus local taxi companies.

Amanda Massaway was selected as the representative for the CCASB.

Board Member Travel was also approved.

Middle School Principal Julie Filpus was selected as District Representative, in the absence of Superintendent Doreen Kramer.

Their next meeting is scheduled for August 10th.
