Houghton Passes Marijuana Ordinanaces

Ordinance 2019-302 which regulates recreational marijuana, Ordinance 2019-303 which amended the current medical marijuana ordinance to work in sync with Ordinance 302 and Ordinance 2020-307,  which allows the city to “opt in” were all passed at last night’s Houghton City Council Meeting, clearing hurdles for the sale of recreational marijuana in Houghton.

A motion was also passed, requesting the Planning Commission consider issuing additional licenses for both medical and recreational businesses.

Police Chief John Donnelly updated the council on the police force.

The Council voted to appoint Darryl Guitar and Jan Cole to the Board of the DDA and TIFA.

Guitar’s term ends on December 31st, 2021 while Cole will serve until December 31st, 2023.

The Parking Deck Structural Report was also accepted.

The meeting wrapped up with the council approving resolutions 1730 and 1731, which allow the city to accept loan amounts offered by the USDA as part of the financing package for the city’s water and sewer projects.
