The Houghton Middle School Drama Club will be presenting two plays this weekend at the Houghton High School Auditorium.
Drama Instructor Dave Crowley says the 6th graders will get things going with their presentation of Attention Detention. “The eight girls, they basically have like one line here and there—sometimes one word, one word, one word each one says as the thoughts are going on and they kind of argue about what she should be doing,” said Crowley.
The 7th and 8th graders will then take the stage for a performance of I Am Angel.
8th grader Adeline Frazier plays the title character, Angel. “It’s a beautiful story about this girl and she dreams she can fly but all of her fellow classmates are making fun of her for it and she really just wants to fit in,” she said.
7th grader Brad Burns plays the love-interest in the play and says the story encourages people to be who they are. “They should learn not to change their selves, I guess. That’s what the entire play is about and how Angel changes herself just to fit in,” said Burns.
The performances start at 7:00pm Friday and Saturday and 2:00pm on Sunday. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students and seniors.
