Houghton, MI Skatepark Awarded Grant From Portage Lake Youth Endowment Fund

Hancock, Michigan – The Portage Lake Youth Endowment Advisory Committee of the Keweenaw Community Foundation (KCF) announced that $2,789.83 has been awarded from the Portage Lake Youth Endowment Fund to one local organization supporting programs and activities that are designed to serve youth of the Portage Lake area. This geographical region includes Chassell, Dollar Bay, Hancock, Houghton, and South Range.

The grant recipient for this award is the Houghton, MI Skatepark to help ease the financial cost of designing and constructing the professionally-built, public, concrete, outdoor skatepark in Houghton. The Committee’s decision to award the Skatepark over other applicants was made as they feel that this project will benefit the largest amount of youth in the area.

KCF welcomes partnerships in the Foundation and urges interested parties to share this information with their constituents and all sub-groups within their organization. Tax deductible contributions may be made to the Portage Lake Youth Endowment Fund (or to any of KCF’s 80+ other funds) online at www.keweenawgives.org. All contributions to a permanent endowment of KCF qualify for a Federal Tax Credit.
