“Live for Tomorrow.”
That’s the theme of this year’s fourth annual suicide prevention walk, sponsored by the Houghton/Keweenaw Communities that Care.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s walk is a little different.
It’s a two week long virtual event and fundraiser.
Bringing awareness to suicide risk factors and options for help and support are the goals for this year’s walk.
Houghton/Keweenaw CTC Coordinator Hanna Butkovich, said “The funds we raise will stay local to keep addressing depression, suicide and the stigma around speaking up about those things.”
Starting September 15th, Live for Tomorrow will run through September 29th.
T shirts are available for participants for $15.
$25 if you’d like to donate, without participating.
If you wish to take part in the event, snap a picture of yourself, wearing your “Live for Tomorrow” t-shirt, while on your walk or run.
Post the picture to your Facebook or Instagram page with the hashtag #HKCTC.
If you wish to participate without social media, an email address to send your picture or video clip, is here.
Make sure to log your mileage, as the winner gets a $50 gift card of their choice.
