Houghton High School Students to Finish Week at Home

Houghton High School students will complete this week at home.

In a social media post yesterday, high school principal Cole Klein explained that the district does not have enough substitute teachers available to cover staff who are unable to teach.

Teachers will lead their regular classes at the regular times via Google Meets today, tomorrow and Friday. If no teacher is available, an assignment will be posted.

Klein said the situation will be reviewed this weekend, to see if enough teachers will be available to resume in-class instruction next week.

He encouraged families with connectivity or computer equipment issues to contact the school.

The move does not affect the middle or elementary school.

He also said the district is monitoring several active COVID-19 cases among students.

At this time, the move will not affect the Gremlins’ sports teams, which will continue to practice and play.
