The dates have been set for the 2023 Houghton County Fair. Next year’s event will be held August 24th through 27th.
At the fair board’s recent annual meeting, officials confirmed that last year’s fair set a new record, with attendance of 23,860. Skerbeck Entertainment also reported record use of the midway.
The Livestock Sale took in $113,000, with 37 youth participating.
Incumbents Jenny Dice, Ethan Johnson and Sarah Maki were re-elected to three-year terms on the fair board. They’ll be joined by newcomer Robert Tuomi. Debbie Winquist will serve as president, Kristopher Tapani as vice-president, Bethany Hillstrom as secretary, and Ethan Johnson as treasurer.
Carol Saari will continue as fair manager.
Skerbeck Entertainment will provide the midway for next year’s fair. Monster Truck Throwdown, the Wild World of Animals and the Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo will also return.
