Houghton Earns High Ranking from Architectural Digest

The city of Houghton is basking in the glow of another top-shelf national ranking.

Architectural Digest has rated Houghton as the eighth most beautiful small town in America.

The magazine cited Isle Royale National Park and Michigan Tech as significant amenities, and said the downtown “is filled with cafes, outdoor-apparel boutiques, and eclectic dining.”

Rocheport, Missouri, earned first place on the list. It was followed by Decorah, Iowa; Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania; Cape May, New Jersey; Yellow Springs, Ohio; Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; and Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

The only other Michigan town to make the list was Holland, which placed 55th.
