The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is saying farewell to one of its longtime members.
Undersheriff Roy Britz will be leaving the department at the end of the month.
He will then assume the duties as Deputy Chief for Michigan Tech University Police and Public Services.
After 20 years in the position, Britz is the longest serving undersheriff in Houghton County history.
He also served as a deputy from 1982 to 1989.
Houghton County Sheriff Brian McLean says they will be hosting a time for people to come by and say goodbye, congratulate and thank Undersheriff Britz for his terrific service to all the citizens of Houghton County.
Cake and coffee will be served at the Sheriff’s Office in Houghton from 10am to 1pm tomorrow.
