More fallout from the COVID-19 outbreak for Houghton County.
In response to sanctions set forth by Governor Whitmer and Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services, The Houghton County Sheriff’s Offices have implemented sanctions, effective immediately, which will remain in effect for at least the next three weeks, or until Michigan’s State of Emergency response is lifted.
The sanctions are as follows- Visitation for inmates both the jail and work camp are suspended.
Group programming, including church services at the jail/work camp are suspended.
Business at the main jail lobby will be restricted to things immediately necessary if they cannot be handled through the phone or mail.
Fingerprinting will be limited to those who have an immediate need, such as a deadline or job requirement.
You’re asked to stay home if you’re not feeling well, or have shown signs of the virus such as coughing, fever or shortness of breath.
The public is again reminded to wash hands frequently, cover your mouth/nose when coughing or sneezing and avoid people who are already sick.
