Houghton County school districts may be able to resume face-to-face instruction Monday.
Although several districts have already announced that classes will resume, Western Upper Peninsula Health Department Health Officer Kate Beer told us late yesterday afternoon that the final decision won’t be made until results from Saturday’s community COVID-19 testing event are tabulated.
That should happen some time today.
If the number of positives is higher than expected, the suspension of in-person activities could continue.
Face-to-face instruction was suspended September 28th, as COVID-19 diagnoses soared in the county.
In the meantime, a Baraga Area Schools office staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Officials say safety precautions the school has in place kept the risk to other staff members and students to a minimum.
