Houghton County Prosecuting Attorney Brittany Bulleit will take over as judge of the 12th Circuit Court for Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw Counties.
The appointment was announced this afternoon by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Bulleit will succeed Judge Charles Goodman, who retired at the end of March. While Goodman’s term ran through 2026, Bulleit’s appointment extends only through 2024. A special election will be held in November, 2024 to decide who fills the remainder of the term.
Bulleit became Houghton County’s prosecuting attorney in 2019, after serving as assistant prosecutor for a decade. She had previously worked as a judicial advisory assistant on the Genesee County Circuit Court. She holds degrees from DePauw University and the Michigan State University College of Law.
