The Houghton County Probate and Family Court will be closed from the start of business hours on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 through the end of business hours on Thursday, June 13, 2019.
During the closure, staff will inventory, reorganize, and mark for destruction or transfer all Probate records affected by the 2018 “Father’s Day flood” to the State of Michigan Archives.
The closing was ordered by Chief Judge Timothy S. Brennan through a notice of closing issued Tuesday.
While the court will be closed, emergency matters will be handled by calling the court at 906-482-3120 and leaving a message on the answering machine, or faxing paperwork directly to the court at 906-487-5964. Staff will regularly check and address all incoming emergencies daily.
