The Houghton County Probate and Family Court will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday through the end of business hours on Friday.
The closure is so that staff can continue and complete the inventory and transfer of Probate records to the State of Michigan Archives.
The closing was ordered by Chief Judge Timothy S. Brennan through a notice of closing issued on July 26th.
While the court will be closed, emergency matters will be handled by calling the court at 906- 482-3120 and leaving a message on the answering machine, or faxing paperwork directly to the court at 906-487-5964.
Staff will regularly check and address all incoming emergencies daily.
