The Houghton County Fair opens this afternoon.
Activities begin with the Beef Show at 2 at the livestock pavilion. The midway, exhibit buildings, and Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo open at 3.

Motocross starts at 7 at the outdoor arena. Kathy Caspary from the fair board says competitors will need to sign up at 6 in a different place this year…
Cathy Bolton will be tonight’s featured musical entertainer on the indoor stage at 7.
Fair organizers also remind patrons that pets are not permitted on the grounds during the fair. Because of that, the new Hancock Dog Park, which is located at the fairgrounds, will not be accessible until Monday. Legitimate service animals are permitted.
