Houghton county has passed its latest audit.
At yesterday’s monthly meeting, county commissioners heard from Anderson, Tackman,and Company that the books for the 2021 fiscal year looked good.
Commissioners renewed contracts with five separate contractors for this year’s remonumentation surveys. About one-third of the county has been surveyed since the state began the process three decades ago. Eventually, every corner post established in the state’s original surveys in the 19th century will be confirmed, and reset or adjusted as necessary.
The county added Osceola Township to the list of those participating in its road repair grant program. The commission recently allocated $1.1 million from its American Rescue Plan Act money to assist with road maintenance and construction in the form of one-to-one matching grants.
