The Houghton County Ice Arena hopes to be ready by September 28th.
This from the Houghton County Board of Commissioners meeting last night.
The board also hopes to begin upgrading the WiFi at the marina this Fall.
If they can’t this Fall, it will be a priority in the Spring.
A county wide high angle rescue team was also brought up for the first time.
Calumet Township has a rescue team, but their range is limited.
They hope other cities and townships will join them so they can expand and cover the whole county, should the need arise.
The new jail is still looking for land to set up shop.
Three foreclosed properties were sent to the land bank.
And the county is still working on the Pacific Coast Julien Brownfield Application.
The board has a budget hearing scheduled for September 29th at 5pm.
