Houghton Council to Consider Vacating Downtown Sidewalk

The Houghton City Council will consider vacating a sidewalk easement at tonight’s meeting.

The easement in question sits just to the west of Swift Hardware on Shelden Avenue. The property it crosses is owned by Julien Properties. That company is pursuing major renovation of the building, and wants the additional space. See a map here.

A public hearing on the proposal will be held at the beginning of tonight’s regular meeting.

The council will also consider a new agreement with Waste Management for trash and recycling pickup.

Tonight’s session begins at 5:30 at the City Center.
