Houghton Community Broadcasting and Copper Country ISD Join Forces To Help Students Through COVID-19 Pandemic

Today’s the day.

Houghton Community Broadcasting teams up with the Copper Country ISD, to help students deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

CCISD Supporting Kids Through Radio will be on 97-7 The Wolf, at 8:40am, Monday through Friday.

A local school official will read a pre-recorded story to students, aimed at helping students reconnect.

Students can also email concerns to the school district.

The program was developed by mental health professionals from the Copper Country ISD, and led by Micah Stepich, Houghton Elementary School Counselor.

Stepich said he got the inspiration for the idea from FDR’s Fireside Chats, made popular during the Great Depression and WWII.

Copper Country ISD Superintendent, George Stokero, had this to say regarding the program.

Stokero also mentioned the district is working on a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020, and distance learning and that school meals should also be safe through the remainder of the school year.
