The City of Houghton is about to get a boost from its participation in the state’s retail marijuana business.
Forty-two million dollars in tax-sharing payments for the year 2021 is scheduled to be sent out from Lansing next week. Houghton’s share will be $169,360.32.
In addition, $49.3 million will be sent to the School Aid Fund for K-12 education. Another $49.3 million will go into the Michigan Transportation Fund.
Houghton is the only municipality in the Copper Country that hosts retail marijuana businesses.
