Houghton City Council Update

Houghton’s city budget for 2021 has been approved.

This from their City Council meeting last night.

City Manager Eric Waara spoke of some of what the Department of Public Works is doing.

Since the last council meeting, Houghton’s Police Department responded to 95 calls, made one felony arrest, 11 misdemeanor arrests, issued 5 civil infractions and 4 city tickets.

The council also approved their Capital Improvement Plan. 

Gloria Melton was appointed to finish out a term on the Portage Lake District Library Board, which expires on March 31st, 2022.

The previous board member has moved out of the area. 

The next council meeting is scheduled for June 24th, and hopes to be in person.

City officials are working on the necessary adjustments needed to host an in-person meeting.
