The Houghton City Council will consider the potential sale of some city property at tonight’s meeting.
The land is located behind Walmart, and is not being used.
The J.M. Longyear Forestry Company has expressed an interest in purchasing an option. Council members could vote to open a discussion with them this evening.
Council members will also consider retiring the free electric vehicle charger that’s been in place for 10 years. A for-pay charging station will be installed soon, which will relieve the city of as much as $4,000 per year in electrical bills.
