Requests for Bids for the extensive Lakeshore Drive reconstruction project are expected to go out next week.
The Houghton City Council received an update on the project at their regular meeting Wednesday.
Chris Holmes from U.P. Engineers & Architects gave the presentation detailing the water and sewer work that will extend from the west end near Bridge Street all the way to the entrance by the gas station on the other end.
The road will also be completely reconstructed and various utility companies will use the opportunity for upgrades.
Meetings to address business owners will be held as traffic, especially below the parking deck, will be disrupted.
Work is expected to begin in May and be completed by August.
