Houghton City Council Meeting Update

Cameron Herrington is the newest member of Houghton’s Board of Review.

This from Houghton’s City Council Meeting last night.

Herrington is replacing Tracy Welch, who moved out of the area.

His term expires at the end of the year.

City Manager Eric Waara on what’s happening in the city.

Police Chief John Donnelly gave an update on Houghton’s Police Department.

Two Phase Three Bonds, which will allow the city to pay MDOT contractors to replace water and sewage lines, while MDOT repaves US 41 from MacInnes Avenue to Franklin Square were passed.

Three Loan and Escrow Documents, allowing MEDC and property owners, to upgrade apartments downtown were also passed.

MEDC is investing just short of a $1 million to help the downtown area.

Fall Clean Up is scheduled for October 2nd through November 1st at the City Garage.

Pick Up for seniors and handicapped residents will take place on October 16th and 30th.

You’re reminded Fall Clean Up is reserved for city residents only.

The Council also approved a Conflict Waiver Letter for  city attorneys Miller Canfield, who have also agreed to work with Veridia.

The waiver allows Miller Canfield to walk away from any matter that turns contentious between them and Veridia.

And pending FEMA approval, Paine Dolan was given the contract to repair damage to the corner of 7th Street and Vivian.
