The owner of the Houghton Community Broadcasting stations has been elected chair of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
Stephen Marks began his career as a radio copy writer in Maryland at age 17.
In 1983, he became co-owner of Thunder Bay Broadcasting, which operates a television station in Alpena. He is now the sole owner of that station, along with ABC 10 and CW 5 in Marquette; WOLV, WHKB and WCCY in Houghton; WIKB and WFER in Iron River; and additional stations in other states.
In addition to their many local community activities, Marks’ Michigan stations fund two student scholarships through the MAB Foundation.
