Host Families Needed For Rotary Youth Exchange Students

The Hancock Rotary needs host families for youth exchange students.

One of the students will be coming next year from Indonesia and each family will have a 3-month hosting period.

There is also a dire need for one more host family for an exchange student from now through June.

The Rotary Youth Exchange program is a high school study abroad program that provides an opportunity for students from around the world to come to the United States and for our local high school students to spend a year abroad on an international educational exchange.

The Rotary Youth Exchange program is approved by and operated under the rules and regulations of the United States Department of State and Rotary International.

The students will live with two or different families during their exchange year, expanding their experience and creating lifelong friendships in the process.

Inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students offer knowledge of their country and culture for the host family, siblings, students at the school they attend, and the community at large.

The host family’s obligations include:

  • Provide a safe and secure home
  • Room, board and transportation
  • Financial ability to provide room and board (no other mandatory expenditures are expected of the family)
  • Willingness to learn about the student and their culture
  • Desire to provide a wonderful, life-changing experience for both the student and your family

The student will attend a high school in your community and will participate with your family in the same ways as your own child would. We ask that you help the student improve their English, learn U.S. customs, and make friends through school and other local activities.
