With Michigan starting to loosen restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals, nursing homes, and extended care facilities can now begin allowing visitors, with strict guidelines, aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Provided they limit visitor entry to designated areas, and screen visitors upon entry, post signs stating symptoms of COVID-19, and what to do if you have them, require visitors who are able to wear a mask or other face covering, permit visitation only during select hours and limit the number of visitors per patient, they can begin allowing visitors again.

Robert Gordon, Director of Michigan’s Health and Human Services Department, said sometimes a visitor can be the medicine a patient needs.
