Helping The Victims Of The Shelden Avenue Apartments Fire

Houghton FireThere is still no word as to the cause of the fire at a building in downtown Houghton nearly two weeks ago.

Houghton City Manager Eric Waara said the city is waiting for the report from the State Fire Marshall.

In the meantime, efforts are underway to help those who were affected by the July 29th fire.

Evan Harju, Kristina Leipus and their son Will were one of the families affected. In an effort to help them get back on their feet there will be an Usborne Books & More Party with a Purpose on Tuesday, August 16th from 7pm-9pm at the Holistic Center for Mind, Body and Spirit, 42051 Wilson Memorial Dr, Box 391 in Chassell, MI The consultant will be donating 100% of the commission received from this party to Evan and Kristina. The free books earned through the hostess rewards from the party will allow them to pick new books for Will.

Please save the date Tuesday, August 16th, to join us at the Holistic Center for Mind, Body, and Spirit in Chassell, MI for an evening of fun learning what Usborne Books & More has to offer you and your family and to help this family in our community.
