There may be a Polar Bear Dive at Heikinpäivä this year, after all.
At last night’s Hancock City Council meeting, officials announced that the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity at Michigan Tech had agreed to take on the project.
The jump into the Portage has tentatively been scheduled for 3:00 next Saturday, following the Heikinpäivä parade and games.
The location has not been determined. In the past few years, the dive was held in front of the Copper Island Beach Club. The club is now closed, and the property is unavailable.
