Heikinpäivä Hymn Sing includes several performances

HANCOCK — The Heikinpäivä Hymn Sing, slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, will be a great way to stay warm both inside and out, as a cadre of talented performers has been assembled to provide a top-notch wrap up to the festival weekend.

Featuring several performances, including accordionist Don Reinholm’s ever-popular rendition of “Finlandia,” the program will highlight several of the songs folks will remember from their Finnish-American religious heritage. Along with Reinholm, the program includes solos by Matt Riutta, selections from the Ilon Kaiku kantele ensemble, the Spirit of Superior Bells, and a male chorus assembled by local musician Dave Bezotte.

The event will last about one hour, and will be followed by a scrumptious spread of Finnish-American treats prepared by the women of Zion Lutheran. The Heikinpäivä Hymn Sing is free and open to the public. Come and enjoy!
