Organizers of this years Heikinpäivä said they were pleased with the turnout for Saturday’s events.
Mild weather brought a good crowd out to the parade, and families continued playing with the kicksleds and the whipsled on Quincy Green well into the afternoon.
Business was brisk at both toris.
On the downside, this was the second straight year without a Polar Bear Dive. Work continues to return it to the schedule next year. At least one organization has expressed an interest in staging it.
The final event on this year’s Heikinpäivä schedule takes place tomorrow night. A contra dance will begin at 6:45 at the Finnish-American Heritage Center.
